My Thoughts:
A Sound Among the Trees is the first book by Susan Meissner I have read. I love stories with historical ties to the Civil War so this one caught my eye right away. The story comes from the history of Holly Oak, the Virginian mansion that survived the destruction of Fredericksburg during the Civil War. Many believe the house is haunted by its previous owner Susannah, who they thought was a traitor to the South because she helped the Union Army. Others believe the mansion is cursed and demands a blood toll from all the women that live there. This story goes through the whole history of this mansion and the women who lived there. It is believed by the neighbors and some of the occupants that it is haunted by Susannah Page. The story is a good one and the historical information is awesome. My absolute favorite part of the book was Part Four of the book where its all letters written by Susannah. Also the "chapters" were not numbered. Susan Meissner writes with A LOT of authority about the South during the Civil War and that time period. It is an interesting story that is a nice read. I look forward to reading more from Susan Meissner. If you enjoy historical fiction, this is a good book for you.

She begins to examine Luke and his life more closely and is amazed when she stumbles upon an exciting, secret side of him that engages her mind and heart.
My Thoughts:
I am a huge reader of Amish Fiction. I love Beth Wiseman and Kathleen Fuller. I personally hadn't read anything by Kelly Long until this book. I am not one sho is drawn to Novellas because I am just not usually one to read short stories, I enjoy the investment of one whole story. That being said, because of the authors I decided to give a Novella book a chance and I am glad I did. All three stories are written in the same time period of about four weeks. Each one has intertwined the same group of people leading up to the wedding of Priscilla and Chester. I enjoyed the way this was written because it was the same characters throughout all three stories just different perspectives for each. I have to be honest I had a hard time getting into the first story "The Perfect Secret". But I am glad I kept going because I wasn't disappointed. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish Fiction.

My Thoughts:
I am a huge fan of Deanne Gist's books. I have read almost all of them and find myself not able to put them down. Love On The Line didn't seem to hold me the way the others did. The book was well researched as far as the era, telephone history, and even the information about birds and bird watching. I found the history information very interesting. The characters just didn't have the spark that Deanne Gist usually has in her books. I found it very easy to put down and that I was reading it to finish it.

WOW!!!!! This collection of stories is very, very powerful. I had not read any books by Karen Kingsbury until this one and all I can say again is WOW. The 3 stories, Waiting for Morning, A Moment of Weakness, and Halfway to Forever, show tragedy and finding love and happiness in the face of tragedy. Each story has its own start and finish but they are very connected. Karen Kingsbury writes such powerful stories of tragedy, loss of faith, love, and finding faith in the middle of all the tragedy. These books are centered on Christian beliefs and scripture but not in a way that is preaching or overbearing. These stories leave a lasting impression on you. The characters of each book are very real people whose lives are NOT perfect but have a strong faith in God. The topics addressed in each book like drunk driving laws, were very well researched. All of the stories really caught me and kept my interest to the end. These stories are beautifully written and honest. I highly recommend this Trilogy to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction. I will definitely be looking for more books by Karen Kingsbury.

My Thoughts:
Reclaiming Lily is the second book by Patti Lacy I have had the privilege to read. Reclaiming Lily is a beautiful story of a Chinese family torn apart by revolution, an American Family who adopts one of the Chinese children, and a sister whose life goal is to honor her mother's dying wish of Reclaiming Lily. Dr. Kai Chang figures out that her mother died of a hereditary disease, Polycystic Kidney Disease, and hires a PI to find Lily, her youngest sister who they had to give up to an orphanage during the Chinese Revolution. Kai contacts the Texas family that adopted Lily Chang, who is now Joy Powell. Pastor Andrew and Gloria Powell meet with Kai in Texas and find out about this disease. During this meeting the Powells receive a call, Joy is in the detention center and they need to come. So Kai comes with them. Joy finds out a midst all of her trouble that Kai is her birth sister. While at the detention center a tornado hits their town and by the grace of God the jail is left untouched. The Powells open their arms to Kai and want her part of their lives and Joy's life. Kai would do anything for Joy but when Kai's life starts to unravel she must learn to depend on Joy and the Powells and most of all God.
Reclaiming Lily is a wonderful story. I found myself caught up in the story so much that I couldn't put the book down. Patti Lacy weaves a beautiful story of sisters separated to save their own lives, an adoptive family brought back together by a birth sister, and unlikely people brought together by God. This story shows love, loss, and finding a way back to God; giving their lives back. The characters are very relatable and I felt like I was part of their world. Patti Lacy writes with such knowledge of China, Chinese culture, Polycystic Kidney Disease, and the journey with God. This book really had a huge impact on me and its one that will stay with me for a while. Also Patti Lacy keeps you guessing until the end how the story will end. The end of the book truly surprised me. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction. I look forward to reading more books by Patti Lacy.

My Thoughts:
The Opposite Of Art is the first book by Athol Dickson that I have read and WOW. The Opposite of Art is a story about a half century journey of Sheridan Ridler, an artist who has a near death experience and is trying to recreate through his art The Glory he saw in this experience. Ridler was a selfish, amoral man whose art was fantastic. Someone in his life tries to kill him and in his near death experience sees heaven. As he comes to he is frantic to find anything to draw what he saw before he "lost" it. Unable to recreate "The Glory" and finding out that everyone thinks he is dead, Ridler goes on this journey to find "The Glory". In the process he finds himself re-evaluating his life and choices.
The Opposite of Art is an intense read. Athol Dickson writes like no other. His descriptions and imagery are deep. Dickson "paints" pictures throughout his novel that give you a beautiful picture of what and where. I found myself having to put the book down frequently to reflect and really absorb what Dickson wrote and what the meanings were. I truly enjoyed this book and the writing. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Christian Fiction and who is looking for an intense read. Athol Dickson is a truly gifted author and I look forward to reading other books by him.

My Thoughts:
Invasion by Jon S. Lewis is the first book in his C.H.A.O.S. Series. I had never read any books by Jon S. Lewis prior to Invasion. Invasion is a fantastic book that brings what you read in comic books to life here on earth. I personally don't read comics or any books that are from comic books but I am so glad I decided to read this one. Right from the start Invasion grabbed my attention and kept it through to the end. Jon S. Lewis writes with such detail and such imagination that it was so easy to picture what he is writing about. The characters in this story are normal, everyday people and teenagers who experience things they have read in comic books. The descriptions of the other worlds and the aliens in this book are just awesome and just fascinating to picture in your mind. Jon S. Lewis truly has a gift for writing these types of books. I am HOOKED!!! Reading Invasion was like watching the new super hero movies that have been sweeping the movie theaters. I found myself unable to put this book down, and when it ended it definitely left me wanting MORE! I highly recommend this book to those who enjoy fantasy books, give it a chance. I am so glad I did!!

Shadows on the Sand by Gayle Roper is the first book by Gayle Roper I have ever read. I enjoyed the book. It is well written and the characters in this story are great. They are a group of colorful people from all different walks of life that bring something to the table to help one another. This colorful group seems to all meet at Carrie's, a diner on the boardwalk in Seaside. This book has a very strong Christian theme throughout without feeling like its being preached. This story also shows the dangers of fanatical religious groups and what can happen to people who are in them. I enjoyed Gayle Roper's writing style and her well researched descriptions of the different places in this book. If you enjoy mystery/romance then this is the book for you!!

They are a group of colorful people from all different walks of life that bring something to the table to help one another. This colorful group seems to all meet at Carrie's, a diner on the boardwalk in Seaside. This book has a very strong Christian theme throughout without feeling like its being preached. This story also shows the dangers of fanatical religious groups and what can happen to people who are in them. I enjoyed Gayle Roper's writing style and her well researched descriptions of the different places in this book. If you enjoy mystery/romance then this is the book for you!!

Women Of Faith Imagine 2011 Milwaukee Wi
I was given the honor of being one of the bloggers selected in my area to receive 2 free tickets to The Women Of Faith Imagine Event held here in Milwaukee Wi. I was so happy and surprised I got selected.
I asked my cousin/friend Vickie to come with me. Neither of us had ever been to this type of event but we were both excited to go and experience it....OMG is all I can say. This event was beyond anything I imagined it would be.
We got to the Bradley Center around 9:30 am and were able to pick where we wanted to sit...so we huffed it around the Bradley Center to find right where we wanted to be. The event started and that was it. The Women of Faith Singers were AMAZING!! I am so addicted to listening to them now! Just fantastic women with such a gift for singing and worshipping. Our EMCEE Anna got up and again was just blown away by her words of encouragement and fun. We then had the privilege to hear from Sheila Walsh first! What a woman. So transparent and so open to talk about her life and her journey to and with God. Then after every talk she gave, she honored us with her phenomenal voice and sang beautiful, touching songs that reflected what she spoke about. AFter Sheila, we heard from Henry Cloud. What an awesome guy who had so much insight and life to share with all of us women!! He and Sheila had such a rapport with each other it was awesome to get to hear them talk together and really know one another! Most of the 10-3:30pm sessions were Sheila and Henry sharing and helping us.
Vickie and I walked around a little bit and decided to go to Water Street Brewery for dinner..that was fantastic. It was great to sit, talk, and just be girls (with no kids LOL)
Our 7pm-10pm sessions were again OMG...we heard from the awesome singers and Anna and then we got to meet the whole Group of Women for the weekend. We got to hear Natalie Grant and Mary Mary. We got to have some funny but honest time with Nicole Johnson about being a wife and mother. Then the highlight for me of the evening was Ken Davis, a Christian Comedian who literally had me laughing until I cried. I don't know the last time I laughed that much at one time. He was so good for my soul. After Ken Davis, Natalie Grant gave an awesome concert and the evening ended. It was such a high to be on.
Saturday I was solo, Vickie couldn't make it but my friend Jolene and her guest were able to connect with me so I wasn't alone! Another awesome day!Got to hear from Sheila Walsh again! YAY We heard from Lisa Harper-WOW!! Loved her. Nicole Johnson-LOVED her!! Then Angie Smith....cannot even describe her talk but to say that the whole Bradley Center was full of women crying by the end. All of these women got up and were so transparent and so willing to share their good and not so good stuff. Mary Mary gave an awesome concert and Luci Swindoll spoke-again WOW.
Such a powerful weekend. It was just what I needed. It was awesome to be able attend and share it with my cousin/friend!! I truly learned so much from each person in this group that came to Milwaukee and I feel so blessed that I was able to be there!! This is a must event!!

Rose has broken off her engagement with Silas Goode. Their Mamm is waiting to have back surgery that she refused to have for many years but because of Beth Browning and her visions decided it was time. Rose still has feelings for Nick Franco but is trying to move on. Their family friend and bishop has been silenced by the brethren for the actions of Nick Franco, their Foster Son.
Picking up The Mercy was like picking back up with a friend. The characters in these books fast become like old friends and it is awesome to see everything come full circle. Beverly Lewis truly captures the Amish Faith and life. The characters are rich ones that you feel such a kinship with as you read. This final installment of the trilogy was anything but predictable. I found myself not knowing what would happen until it did and Beverly Lewis does an amazing job of making her books and characters unique in their circumstances and lives. While reading The Mercy I felt like I was right there in Lancaster County watching all of this unfold. I am sad to see this set of books end but cannot wait to see what new Beverly Lewis has in store for us readers next. I highly recommend not just this book but this trilogy to anyone who likes Amish Fiction. Thank you Bethany House for the honor of reading and reviewing this book.

His Steadfast Love by Golden Keyes Parsons is a beautiful story that takes place during the Civil War mainly in Indianola, TX. This story is about Amanda Belle, the oldest daughter of Reverend Belle. When her mother died, Amanda had promised to raise and protect her siblings. Amanda's brother, Daniel, goes to war, while Amanda and her family must stay on their land and try to live. This story recounts historically the events that happened in towns and cities all over the U.S. during this time. Amanda met a Union soldier and they fell in love but her family forbids a relationship. As the war goes on Amanda begins to question their way of life in the South in regards to slavery and her Union soldier sees that slavery isn't the same in every household. The Belles home is overtaken by Union soldiers when her Soldier, Kent Littlefield is injured. Amanda and her father nurse him back to health. Amanda's feelings for him grow. As the war goes on Amanda starts questioning her faith and whether God is really hearing their prayers. Kent Littlefield's faith on the other hand never waivers and continues to grow as he depends on God for everything.
I love Golden Keyes Parsons books. She writes awesome historical fiction that really brings you in. From the beginning I felt like I was right there watching the story unfold, seeing the effects of the war. The historical facts are very well researched and things that I hadn't heard about with the Civil War. The time period was also well researched as how everyone interacted and how feelings were between the North and South. The characters were people that I could relate to and really felt part of their lives and their thoughts. The theme of War and God's love is predominant throughout the whole story. The faith of all the characters are seen in this book including that of the slaves. I truly enjoyed this book and found it hard to put down. I hope Golden Keyes Parsons will be continuing on this story as a series. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, especially during the Civil War time. I cannot wait for another novel by Golden Keyes Parsons.

I am addicted to Lis Wiehl's Triple Threat Series so I was very excited to see she was writing another series and HAD to read it. Of course it did NOT disappoint. Waking Hours is a story about true evil that has descended on the town of East Salem. A girl is murdered, not just murdered but sacrificed. The storyline is intense and I found myself with goosebumps reading some of it. The suspense and intrigue grab you from the start and just keep going. The story was not predictable and it keeps you guessing until the end. The characters of this book are very well written and are real people. All the characters are connected to one another in all different ways. The history of witches and rituals was very well researched and well explained in the book. This book kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish! I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys suspense and intrigue. Cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out.

The Crossing by Serita Ann Jakes is a phenomenal story of a 10 yr old murder that was never solved but the effects on those involved are lasting. B.J. Remington was murdered on a school bus coming back from a high school football game as it waited at the train tracks for the train to go through. A football star, Casio, had his career cut short trying to attack the gunman. Claudia Campbell was a cheerleader and B.J.'s best friend even though B.J. was a teacher and the cheerleading coach. Claudia's husband, Victor, is the ADA and with the help of Casio, they have reopened B.J's case. This opens a lot of wounds especially for Casio and Claudia. As questions start getting asked more comes out and they find things are definitely not what they seem.
This story was just, WOW. I love Serita Ann Jakes. I have listened to her preach and teach for a few years now and have read some of her nonfiction. The Crossing just blew me away. This book became part of me as I could not put it down for very long. Where I found a few minutes to stop and read it, I did. This book not just follows those living through this but also follows what B.J Remington goes through after she is shot until her last breath. Serita Jakes writes about God's forgiveness and God's love no matter what the sin. The way she wrote this book I felt like I was right there watching this all unfold and all of the characters were connected to one another in one way or another. It is a hauntingly beautiful story of life and death, sin and forgiveness, and letting go and moving on with life. I recommend this book to everyone!! This book is one that will stay in my memory for a long time. I look forward to reading more by Serita Jakes!!

Meghan is part of a team where the team leader, Ash Zinder, does not like working with women agents and makes no secret of it. As the story unfolds things are not what they seem. This story caught me from the beginning to end. I was barely able to put it down. This book has a little of everything: love, hate, murder, high-speed chases, conspiracies, and strong faith. The characters are awesome; some you love and some you love to hate. All the characters play a big role in this book. Obviously our author has expertise in Secret Service, government, and Texas ranches. I could picture the surroundings and really felt like I was there.
This is the first book by DiAnn Mills I have read and I can't wait to read the others she has written! Awesome author who knows how to grab her readers and keep them until the end. Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys this genre of book, you won't be disappointed.

WOW!!! Attracted to Fire by DiAnn Mills is an intense ride from beginning to end. Special Agent Meghan Connors is put on security detail for the Presidents daughter, Lindsay, who is out of control. She is taken to a remote ranch for detox and rehab from drugs and alcohol. Meghan is part of a team where the team leader, Ash Zinder, does not like working with women agents and makes no secret of it. As the story unfolds things are not what they seem. This is just a wonderful story that I found myself unable to put down. This story spoke to me in many ways and really gave me some insights to think about. A Most Unsuitable Match is the first book by Stephanie Grace Whitson I have read and I am so glad I did! When I saw the cover and read the back of the book I was drawn to it. I was NOT disappointed. I couldn't put the book down. From the beginning of the book I felt very connected to the characters and the story lines in this book. Stephanie Whitson's characters are very relatable and easy to love. All the characters in this story no matter major or minor really caught me. This story showed how God forgives everyone, no matter what they have done in their lives and that you can always count on that. A Most Unsuitable Match shows a menagerie of characters who become family to each other and how their love for one another truly helps them grow into better people. This story was well written and obviously well researched for the time in history and the areas it took place in. The descriptions were so vivid that I could see these places in my mind. I fell in love with this book. I highly recommend this book to those who love Historical Fiction, it will NOT disappoint. I cannot wait to read more stories by Stephanie Grace Whitson and am very thankful I was given the opportunity to read this book.

I am a HUGE Fan of Beth Wiseman and of Amish Fiction. Beth Wiseman is one of the first authors of Amish Fiction I started reading and I am hooked on her books. Both of her series, The Daughters of Promise and A Land of Canaan, are wonderful books that truly show the Amish faith and how the Amish live. Her latest book, The Wonder of Your Love does NOT disappoint. The story picks up with Katie Ann raising her son on her own, after her estranged husband was killed in a car accident. Her estranged husband, Ivan, had left Katie Ann and the Amish faith to be with Lucy, an Englisher in Lancaster County. Katie Ann and Ivan moved to Canaan with Ivan's brother Samuel and his family to have a fresh start but ended up going back to Lucy. Katie Ann never told Ivan she was pregnant. Katie Ann is raising their son, Jonas, and grieving for husband. Lucy shows up at Katie Ann's door, pregnant, wondering about a picture of a house and 2 house keys she found in Ivan's things. Katie Ann doesn't know but does help Lucy by giving her money to help her. Katie Ann has made her own family in Canaan including an Englisher named Martha who is like a Mom to Katie Ann and a Grandma to Jonas. At the wedding of David, Katie Ann's nephew, and Emily, Katie Ann meets Eli, Emily's Uncle, and the instantly connect. Eli is also a widower, who raised all 6 of his children without a wife. He and Katie Ann form an unusual bond that grows but he lives in Ohio and she lives in Colorado.
This story was a beautiful story of finding the wonder of love. Finding what love can do for all people. I could not put this book down. This story showed forgiveness in a very unforgiving situation, love in the last place you would expect, and the connection between Amish and English. Katie Ann's relationship with Martha is a special bond that didn't seem like a normal one for an Amish woman. They loved each other as family and took care of each other. Also the background story of Eli was a very unique one, an Amish man who never remarried and raised his 6 children on his own. Eli did both Mom and Dad role and wasn't afraid to show his sensitive side. Katie Ann's story is also unique as far as her husband leaving the faith and her. This story truly gave a different perspective of Amish life and how not so different Amish and Englishers can be. Beth Wiseman weaves such a deep story that you find yourself right there laughing with them and crying with them. The characters of her story are real and live through real things. I LOVED this book and can't wait for the next Beth Wiseman book to come out!!

The Healing is the second book of the Kentucky Brothers series by Wanda Brunstetter. In The Healing, Samuel Fisher loses his wife and unborn child in an accident and decides to move himself and four children to Kentucky where his brother Titus Fisher lives. They move into Titus's home and Titus helps with the children. Samuel is in a deep depression over losing his wife and unborn child that he pulls away from everyone, especially his children. Esther Beiler, a friend of Titus, comes to help with the children and falls in love with them right off the bat. Esther also starts to fall in love with Samuel but doesn't think he will ever feel that way.
The Healing is a wonderful story of grief, being lost, and finding love again. The characters are very deep and intertwined into each other's daily lives. Not only the Amish characters but the English characters. We see how everyone deals with the same issues regardless of their beliefs. This book has powerful descriptions of Pennsylvania Amish country and Kentucky Amish Country. Wanda Brunstetter is an expert in her writing of the Amish. Her reverence and love of the Amish people show through all she writes. The Healing picks right up from where The Journey ended. I enjoyed reading about characters from Wanda's other books and to continue to be part of their lives. I am excited to read the next book in the series. This is a must read for Amish Fiction lovers!

The Bone House is the 2nd Book in the Bright Empires Series. I had the privilege of reviewing The Skin Map when that first came out and I was hooked. Its been a while since I had read The Skin Map but I was very pleased to have a "review" in the beginning of The Bone House that caught me back up plus a cast of characters to help remember all the players in the story. The Bone House picks right back up with The Skin Map stopped. The flow is awesome! Stephen Lawhead does NOT disappoint in The Bone House. As I began to read, I very quickly got swept back into the story and felt like a part of the book. Stephen Lawhead writes in a way that you feel like you are right there with the characters. The story flows and keeps a fast pace. Very hard book to put down once you pick it up. The book itself is like The Skin Map in the way it is constructed, under the dust cover the cover has these symbols all over(the symbols are from the symbols for the Skin Map). The edges of the paper were not completely even-cut and give that old book feeling. These add to the character of the book. As with the Skin Map, I found myself having to stop and recollect some of the characters, at times it felt like a juggling act but it didn't take away from the story. I traveled to many foreign places in different centuries with all the characters. It was so interesting to read and picture these places and times. Stephen Lawhead does an awesome job describing them and made it obvious much research went into this story too. I highly recommend this book to people who enjoy science fiction and Fantasy stories. I look forward to reading the last book of this series and other books written by Stephen Lawhead.

My Thoughts:
Blue Skies Tomorrow is the last in the Wings of Glory Series by Sarah Sundin. I read Blue Skies Tomorrow but not the first two of the series. Blue Skies Tomorrow is a wonderful, wonderful story about Helen Carlisle and Lt. Raymond Novak and their lives during World War 2. This story had many topics it covered in this beautiful story. Sarah Sundin addressed things like spousal abuse and the shame of the victim. She also showed through Helen what it is to survive and overcome this abuse. Blue Skies Tomorrow is a beautiful story of secrets, love, patience, and how God's love gets you through. It shows the journey Helen takes back to God and believing in His love so that she can believe in other people's love for her. Sarah Sundin writes with such expertise on the time, many different parts of the world, and what it is to be a survivor. I found myself lost in this book, couldn't put it down. Found myself laughing in places, crying in others, and having that unsure feeling of what would happen next. The characters are funny, real people like friends. Sarah Sundin brings the readers into to story where you feel part of the characters worlds. I highly recommend this book to Christian fiction readers but also people who in enjoy WW II fiction and historical fiction in general. I can't wait to read more books by Sarah Sundin.
