Book Description:
In A Hopeful Heart, the first novel of the new Hearts of the
Lancaster Grand Hotel series from best-selling author Amy Clipston,
Hannah finds herself at a crossroads in her life. Her community offers
her love and support after the untimely death of her husband, but an
Englisher offers her the chance of a new life after her unexpected
tragedy.
Wealthy businessman Trey Peterson is surprised by his attraction to the
gentle Amish woman who works as a housekeeper in the Lancaster Grand
Hotel. They share a common bond of loss and are able to offer each other
comfort and support as they journey through their grief.
Joshua Glick wants nothing more than to offer his friendship and love
to Hannah and her family. Not only is he her late husband’s brother and
business partner, he has always been in love with Hannah.
A Hopeful Heart is filled with surprising twists as Hannah
tries to balance her life in the Amish community and her growing love
for an outsider.
My Thoughts:
A Hopeful Heart is the first book in Amy Clipston's new series, Hearts of the Lancaster Grand Hotel. As those who read my blog know I LOVE Amish fiction and Amy Clipston is one of the first authors I had the privilege of reading who writes Amish fiction. In A Hopeful Heart, Hannah is working at a hotel to make ends meet after her husband dies unexpectedly leaving her to support their 3 children. Her brother in law, Josh, works the family business that he and his brother had to help Hannah and the children. Josh loves Hannah and wants to marry her but Hannah does not feel the the same way. While working Hannah literally runs into Trey Peterson, an Englisher staying at the hotel. He is there looking for a property to open a B and B in honor of his deceased wife and daughter. Hannah and Trey connect over their mutual loss but find it very complicated.
A Hopeful Heart is an awesome story. Amy Clipston weaves a beautiful story of Hannah and her children. I found myself hooked from the start. I could not put it down once I started. This book is a quick read but very good nonetheless. Amy Clipston writes with authority on Lancaster County, the Amish, and the hospitality industry. Every time I read one of her books I learn new facts about Lancaster County and the Amish. The characters in this book are great. Their lives are not without troubles but their faith and friends help them through. As I read this story I felt like I was right there watching the story unfold. I laughed in many parts and cried in others. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Amish Fiction. You will not be disappointed. I cannot wait to read more of this wonderful series. I give this book 5 stars.
